St. Mary's is a parish of the Anglican Province of America. We are a part
of the historic Holy Catholic Church, tracing our teaching and ministry
to the Apostolic Church, and part of the worldwide traditional Anglican
movement.
In worship, we use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer (BCP). This edition
contains prayers and affirmations of faith dating to the beginning of Christianity,
as well as the traditional Anglican / Episcopal liturgy. This liturgy has
been in continuous use since it was published in 1549.
When we gather for worship,
as an expression of devotion, it is customary to kneel for prayers unless
a person is physically unable to do so. We stand in reverence at the reading
of the Holy Gospel and in affirming our faith when reciting the Creed.
We also stand to sing praise to God in our hymns. We sit for instruction
during the reading of the Epistle and during the sermon. In general, we
stand to sing, sit to listen (to readings and the sermon), and kneel to
pray and confess (if physically able). Do whatever is comfortable for you.
The easiest choice is to follow the lead of those around you.
When you join us here at St. Mary's, you are invited to review the yellow
"For Our Visitors" guide to worship and pick up a St. Mary's information
packet at the rear of the church. Please feel free to contact the
church office and our Rector at any time. The office is open Monday through
Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The church and office are located
at 101 Homewood Blvd., Delray Beach, Florida 33445, on the southeast corner
of W. Atlantic Ave. and Homewood Blvd. Our telephone number is 561.265.1960.
